Common Entrance Math Tutor
Home tutor in Port Harcourt, Rivers
I have been working with upper primary students for 3 years. As a tutor, I have been teaching these pupils for a year. I am particularly interested in Mathematics, as the subject is a primary need for students progression. As a student I experienced difficulty getting through Mathematics daily as it seemed like the Maths time in school was never enough for me to understand. I had to do extra work to understand and get through my fears in Mathematics.
I have a keen interest in Mathematics, because contrary to popular belief it is simple if well taught. This happens to be a major challenge in the Educational sector. I know that if given the opportunity, I will be able to properly educate a student, helping him/her through the subject Mathematics.
Firstly, I will analyze the students to know their weaknesses and strengths, after which I will look for the best and easiest means of teaching the student. I will teach from the basic concepts, breaking the theories and examples presented into simpler and elementary parts. This will be done in a way to make the child understand and assimilate better. With classwork and assignments, I will ensure that the pupils are following the teaching methods. There will also be rewards for accomplishing tasks as a means of encouragement.
I am confident that with these means, the students will be properly guided and pass their common entrance examination with good grades.

I hold a Bachelor of Science degree in Microbiology from the University of Port Harcourt.
My experience as a teacher spans over 2 years, in the areas of Biology and Mathematics. During my National Youth Service Corps in Cross Rivers State, I was designated the subject teacher taking Mathematics for Senior Secondary Class 1 (SS 1) and Basic Science for Junior Secondary Class 3 (JSS 3). During my time in Cross Rivers, I assisted in tutoring students preparing for WAEC and NECO examinations and they passed their exams. I am currently teaching in a primary School at Omuma, Rivers State as an assistant and part time teacher, with my main focus being pupils preparing to transfer into secondary school.
I leverage my patience and core skills to ensure that my students understand the rudiments of the subject being taught to them. With these, I am able to prepare them drive and them to success.
