Junior Secondary English Tutor
Home tutor in Eti Osa, Lagos
My experience as a junior secondary school tutor has helped me shape my method in teaching English language to students.
I involve my students in active participation in solving comprehension passage questions during lessons. I also provide answers based on their intuitive thinking before subject matter is discussed. The idea of giving students topics to write on during class lessons is to monitor accuracy and progress by so doing, individual development and progress is certain. A lot of students shy away from practicing oral sounds because they feel they are not as important as other aspects. I help and encourage my students to practice every-day especially vowel sounds.
I also introduce more structural materials higher than what they were taught in basic school. Comprehension passages now contain element of summary which demand systematic breakdown and rearrangement of sentences without derailing from the original ideas in a passage. Oral sounds, questions tags, stress patterns and tense usage are examples of what I lay emphasis on so as to enable students get familiar with other parts of the language.

I am a graduate of English and Literacy studies from the Obafemi Awolowo University.
My love for teaching has inspired me to teach during my service to my country and also to run my post graduate studies in English Education, University of Lagos. I am not limited to only what I know, I equally give room for constant learning.
I do not only seek that my students understand what is taught but also to understand their personalities and design teaching methods that work best for each and everyone of them.

As a class teacher, I was responsible for the academic wellbeing of the pupils. I ensured that lesson notes were properly written, studied before coming to class to teach. My method of teaching was to introduce the topic to the pupils by asking them questions about previous knowledge. Each pupil is given the opportunity to answer questions either my demonstration or mere words. Anothet method of introducing the new topic was to bring instructional materials to class which I found out exposed their minds to what exactly the topic was about. Pupils are expected to ask questions and are either giving classworks or take home assignments.
