About

My name is Chioma, I am a graduate of Economics Education from the University of Port Harcourt. I am also a member of the Teachers' Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN).

As an educationist, I went through the compulsory teaching practice for 2 years for effective teaching and learning process. I have taught Literacy and Numeracy to Primary School Students for over three years.

I believe the best teachers are personable and distinguished by their ability to engage. My experience has further taught me how important it is that teachers are professional, patient, and organised. I find it incredibly rewarding when my students do well, so I am always committed to going the extra mile to ensure they achieve their goals.

I am a big advocate of making sure students are equipped with all the tools to learn that will benefit them outside of our sessions , such as organisation and effective study techniques. I believe that it is really important that students learn to break problems down in a logical way so that they have the ability to tackle problems that might initially seem foreign - whether in academics or in life!

I spend a lot of time asking questions to make sure they truly understand the concepts and then get them to teach it back to me as a way of clarifying their understanding. I try to come up with creative ways to learn and enforce concepts that are applicable to the real world.

I realised as a young child that the students who did best were the ones who enjoyed their work the most. And so my approach is simple: identify what it is that my pupils enjoy, and try to expand their area of interest from there. Some pupils enjoy simple rules that explain exam technique; others prefer to have English linked to other disciplines, such as History, Philosophy, or even sport. Some pupils prefer medieval poetry, and some prefer non-fiction. Some pupils write stories in their spare time; some love reading but find holding a pen painful. Communication and openness are the key to my approach, and I aim for my pupils to not just meet their goals, but to excel in them.
