About
I endeavor to render an individual-based style of tutoring. It is geared around a recognition that ability, circumstances and character differ from student to student.
My methodology and pace may sometimes vary, but the constant in my tutoring is a sympathetic, calm but challenging manner. My tutoring process aims at instilling confidence, both in the subjects I am working on with a student, and also in their general educational and personal development.
The aim of my approach is not just to tick boxes on a syllabus or repair specific faults, though both are often necessary components of my work: I set out to not only teach my students but to also work with them.
My relationships with some of my teachers whilst I was at school, formed a significant role in my own personal development. I developed a rapport with my teachers and tutors, and this helped me to progress educationally, cultivate various skills and map out my future.
It is with a similar temperament that I approach one-to-one professional tutoring.
I have gathered teaching experience from several primary schools where I have taught on a part-time basis.
My teaching techniques have proven to bring about active participation and meaningful progress in the performance of my students.

I have found that a friendly, calm and patient approach to each students helps them to feel comfortable talking about the specific areas they find difficult. In this way I am able to tailor lessons to suit each student, adjusting the speed at which we tackle each subject to reflect their individual needs. Here students and parents alike have appreciated my ability to creatively explain and think about topics for students with a range of different learning styles until we find a method or formula that works for them. Once a subject has been learned for the first time, it is important to me to make sure that students are confident and comfortable with each topic that they will face under pressured examination conditions. To do this I use a mixture of repetition within lessons (circling back to questions on a specific topic periodically) and monthly topic revisions.
