It is important we begin to inculcate the habit of reading into children from an early age. Reading can help them in the following areas:

it will help the child get to know sounds, words and language, and develop early literacy skill, it will help them learn to value books and stories, it will spark the child’s imagination and stimulate curiosity, it will help the child’s brain, social skills and communication skills develop, it will help the child learn the difference between ‘real’ and ‘make-believe, it will help the child understand change and new or frightening events, and also the strong emotions that can go along with them.

About

I believe effective tutoring is about delivering complex concepts in simple terms with patience, enthusiasm and encouragement. Developing strong relationships with students means that parallels can be drawn between what is being studied, and the students' own life experiences, which makes for a deeper level of understanding and, ultimately, better learning.

Surely, teaching skills and initiatives that students can then forever more rely upon, such as word association and memorization through recalling related experiences, is the best legacy any tutor can have.

For me, the greatest reward tutoring can offer is watching a student grow in knowledge but also self-confidence.

I believe students perform the best when they are the most engaged in what they are learning, when they can connect their learning to things they already love
