Abimbola I.
Mathematics Tutor
Passionate Mathematics Tutor
I love studying maths, sharing maths puzzles, and teaching maths, but most of all i love to see students begin to share my enthusiasm and passion for the subject. I know how daunting maths can be, and i take great care to ensure that a blend of student-tutor chemistry, reassurance, support, and excellent teaching all help even the most mathematically disinclined student to develop an interest in the subject.
About
My name is Abimbola, I am a graduate of Mettalurgical and Materials Engineering from the Federal University of Technology, Owerri. I am a professional Mathematics teacher with over three years experience in teaching Mathematics with an in-depth knowledge of Mathematics and it's theories, including Further Mathematics and Advance Level Mathematics. I have excellent Quantitative skills, and ability to explain tough concepts to students with patience.
Besides mathematics, I have experience in teaching Physics and Chemistry as I taught both subject in my undergraduate days. Many of the students I taught are performing excellently well in the University.
A lot of students find the sciences very boring so I aim to show them the opposite and show them just how important what they study at school is! My lessons are fun and interactive because they incorporate a lot of demonstrations such as the usage of balloons in explaining the 3D shapes of molecules. This not only enthuses students but also helps in learning the material as the demonstrations are very memorable.
All of my lessons are based around the syllabus for that qualification and incorporate exam questions from day one in order to eliminate the fear that surrounds exams. Though I encourage students to learn beyond the scope of the exams, I make sure that first and foremost we're covering all the material needed for them to get the best results possible!

The first thing I do when I meet with students is ask them to explain what they don't understand or where they are having trouble. From asking them this question, I then probe further to see if there are other concepts that they are not understanding. After understanding the problem fully, I then explain the math concept to them by relating it to something that they already understand. This way they can apply their knowledge and understanding to the new concept.
