My teaching philosophy is student-centred: my aim is always to create a supportive, friendly and exciting environment for learning to thrive. I respond dynamically to the needs of each student I teach, shaping my teaching style so that it best serves their personality and interests.
I am particularly keen on making my tutorials as practical as possible to get the interest of the students. My students are taught to harness their skills in reading and writing from the get-go. Through learning how to formulate original ideas and express themselves clearly they are able to develop greater confidence in themselves and gain a deeper sense of autonomy and initiative towards their school work.
About
My name is Abimbola, I am a graduate of Early Childhood Education from the University of Lagos.
For over three (3) years, I have taught children in Nursery and lower Primary School. I am very conversant with the Montessori method of teaching.
I find that the most important feature of tutoring is the ability to adapt to the specific needs of the child. The age range of children (0-8years) I have worked with has proven to me that no child is incapable of learning and understanding as long as they are given the right environment.
Getting to spend time with each child individually means I can get to know each child's unique personality and learning strategies, and use that to turn examination content, application processes, or classroom goals into something familiar and approachable.
I also engage as much as possible with the natural interests of the child and use diverse and inspiring methods of teaching.
