Professional English Language Teacher

My name is Linda. I am a 49 year old Ghanaian, an Industrial Engineer and also hold an MBA in Leadership and Sustainability. I have extensive experience teaching English Language for different age groups. I have taught Kindergarten to Grade 12, University classes to Corporate Business classes to specialty classes like TOEFL/ IELTS and even travel courses.  Through the years of one-on-one tutorials at various levels I have found the most important learning tool is to kindle the learners' own interest and love of their subject. I am passionate about teaching English Language, and enjoy discovering that excitement in new Learners. Confidence is often vital for this, so I encourage students to realize the value of their own ideas by giving thoughtful feedback, and creating a supportive relationship. This helps learners to discover their own questions about a text or a point of grammar, and gently guides their natural intellectual creativity and curiosity.

More importantly I'll make use of the course books, materials and the recommended curriculum to communicate to the learners the four basic language skills which are listening, reading, speaking and writing to establish a sound foundation when this Language is being learnt.

I believe learning is ongoing and that it is important to continually be reading and taking courses, which I have done over my close to 25 years career.

About

I am a multilingual person and I have had years of productive experience in teaching, I have taught a lot of students at different levels.I have a unique way of teaching my students to enable them speak the language in a short time.

Also in recent past I have been given the opportunity to work in some neighboring West African Countries variously as a teacher, lecturer and administrator in educational institutions ranging from Primary to Tertiary levels and this further developed my ability to nurture, mentor and build the capacity of people with varied backgrounds and needs.

I have a naturally positive rapport with students that helps me to engage and manage lessons effectively. I am enthusiastic, approachable and dedicated, and I endeavor to present myself and run my classes in a professional and energetic fashion. I understand the pressures students can feel in the run-up to exams, and, whether the student needs motivating or is already very keen, I enjoy using my background as a teacher to develop lively methods of teaching.
