Efficient Economics Tutor

When teaching Economics, I love helping my students focus on conceptual issues to build confidence in broad skills that can be applied to specific problems. My goal is to help students learn how to approach problems and solve them on their own rather than give answers or step-by-step formulas. I work to build and inspire confidence in my students in order that they master the material in a way that will be reflected in their ability to participate in class and succeed on exams and standardized tests.

My name is Ahmed, I am a graduate of Accounting from the Lagos State University. I also have an NCE from the National Teachers' Institute. I have been opportune to tutor both Primary and Secondary School Students Mathematics, Accounting and Economics with a very positive outcome. I have been teaching for three years and i have been able to successfully prepare my students for WAEC, NECO and Common Entrance Examinations.

I have a very tailored approach to teaching and my methods vary according to the student in question. For me, the value of one-to-one tutoring is it’s capacity to cater precisely to the needs and learning style of that particular student and I like to take some time when we begin, to ascertain exactly what teaching methods will be best suited.

Whatever the circumstances, I take a holistic approach to my role as tutor and aim to help my students not only learn the curriculum or prepare for an entrance exam but also to become confident, independent learners, able to organise their work, put together revision timetables and develop methods to aid understanding and retention.

I encourage students to be goal-oriented and maintain enthusiasm and motivation by establishing clear attainable milestones, which strike a balance between challenging them and also developing confidence. Most importantly, however, I think it is essential that the students enjoy their sessions and that the subject matter is made relevant and relatable.

I consider myself to be very positive, patient and approachable and I strive to cultivate a safe environment in which students feel comfortable to express their difficulties and explore diverse methods to enhance learning and achieve their desired aims.

I have a dynamic and flexible approach to tutoring. I think it is important to adjust the structure and style of tutoring to meet the needs and aims of the particular individual. My key aim was to prepare the Students towards their internal and external examinations. I always keep lessons as interactive as possible, using a question and answer technique as well as engaging and creative materials. As the exams approach, I typically switch the focus to past papers and exam technique so that students develop the practical skills to deploy their knowledge.
