Mathematics Tutor
Experienced Mathematics Tutor
It is my fundamental belief that making lessons interesting for my students is crucial in effective teaching.
This is especially so for Mathematics, where a huge amount of learning takes place while students are doing unassisted exercises.
Through my encouraging and animated approach to tutorials, i aim to instill a passion in my students, so that they will respond to such exercises with enthusiasm and confidence.
About
My name is Aina. I am a graduate of Physics from the University of Ilorin. I have over five years experience teaching Mathematics and Physics.
While teaching i feel that the needs of my students are unique and that private tutoring offers the perfect environment to adapt to my students learning styles.
Personally, i prefer the process of forming questions that are tailored to individual students, in order to give them a deeper insight into the subjects.
In my view, this is an art, especially with students who are behind and turning them into straight A students, as it can be quite challenging for a tutor to come up with questions that are pitched correctly: Pitch the level too low and the student is bored and doesn't learn anything new. Pitch too high, and the student won't be able to fully engage with the material, meaning the tutor will have to do most of the work for the student, and so it is of little value to them.
But pitch the question just right and the student learns something new and crucially learns by going through their own thought process, meaning that they are much more likely to be able to recall the key ideas later.

Mastery of Mathematics and Physics can be really rewarding, but it requires ample opportunity for discussion if a student is to grasp the bigger picture. I have found that teaching a subject from the core concept and very basics, step by step through to the wider applications is best for ensuring a complete understanding. Creating bespoke lessons and learning materials for my students is also essential to provide optimal learning, and students need to feel confident that they can ask any question they have. Many student learn in different ways, but i have found that there are many topics that students find easier to master outside the classroom, where there is space to think and ask questions.
