Principles of Accounting Tutor
Highly Effective Accounting Tutor
When teaching Accounting,I take a different approach: I go through each problem step-by-step and discuss with my student why I am following a certain procedure to solve the problem. I then ask them questions to clarify their understanding of the topic. Finally, I have prepared educational seminar materials and reviewed knowledge-testing materials in Accounting. Doing so has allowed me to develop methods for getting to the heart of exam questions, a skill that I pass on to my students during our tutoring sessions. While I cannot guarantee grades, many of my students have reported to me that they received A's in their classes after our tutoring sessions.
About
My name is Akinbinu, I am a graduate of the University of Lagos with a B.Sc. Honors in Accounting. I believe that when it comes to education, it is important to understand that a solid foundation is built from the ground up, one step at a time.
This is why in my teaching, I am careful to observe which skills have been learned in previous courses, and which may still need improvement. I focus on ensuring the student has the mastery of these skills, so they can go forward in confidence.
For two years i have taught Secondary School Students Accounting, Commerce and Economics, preparing them for both A-levels and O-levels Examinations with a very high success rate.I am calm, patient and enthusiastic about the subjects I teach.
Approaching exam time, I become extremely exam-focused. I feel it is important not to view exams as just a 'knowledge competition'. So, after a 'content learning phase', I will then focus heavily on exam technique, which involves looking at past papers and mark schemes, where the marks lie and what key-words are needed.
As a teacher, I look for every opportunity to engage students with their work and ensure their potential is being fully realised. I believe there's no such thing as a stupid question, and teaching students to be comfortable in uncertainty is an integral part of properly learning a topic - very often, a tentative response will be on exactly the right path to the answer!
No two students are the same, and so an individualised approach tailored to each child's strengths and areas of focus is not a bonus in tutoring, but a necessity. Through this, alongside a detailed knowledge of the curriculum and exam specifications, I aim to fully equip each student with the confidence and know-how to not only achieve their goals, but crucially keep an eye on the 'bigger picture' and enjoy the learning experience.

I am passionate and enthusiastic about learning and teaching and bring this positive outlook to every lesson. I make my lessons fun and engaging, introducing core theoretical concepts and working with students to apply these to problems. I encourage my students to ask questions, try things out and think out loud. I set homework which is then discussed the following week.
