Dedicated Mathematics Tutor

I welcome the focus on my individual students that is a central feature of tutoring, and very much enjoy engaging in the lively dialogue and individualized feedback, that enables my students to grow in confidence as learners.

When teaching Mathematics, i bring enthusiasm and energy to my tutoring. Thanks to my work as a school teacher, my approach to tutoring is also informed, where relevant, by a sound understanding of the assessment requirements for public examinations and school entrance examinations.

About

My name is Alex. A graduate of Electrical Electronic Engineering from the University of Benin.

I have good analytical and numerical skills, which made me good at using major computer application software and i also have a five years one on one teaching experience before and after my university days.

The common thread to my tutoring is that it is based directly to my students. It is geared around a recognition ability, circumstances and character differ from student to student.

When tutoring, i aim to instill confidence, not only in the subject i am teaching my student, but also in their general educational and individual development. My approach is not just to tick boxes on a topic or repair specific faults, though both are often necessary components of my work: I try not just to teach my students, but also to work directly with them.

I developed a rapport with my students, this will help them progress educationally, cultivate various skills and map out their future.

It is with a similar temperament that i approach one-to-one professional tutoring.

I also offer an approach that is family-based: that is, i work with multiple siblings in many families.

For me, the greatest reward tutoring can offer is watching a student grow in knowledge but also self-confidence. I believe effective tutoring is about delivering complex concepts in simple terms with patience, enthusiasm and encouragement. Developing strong relationships with my students means that parallels can be drawn between what is being studied, and my students' own life experiences, which makes for a deeper level of understanding and, ultimately, better learning. Surely, teaching skills and initiatives that students can then forever more rely upon, such as word association and memorization through recalling related experiences, is the best legacy any tutor can have.
