My approach to tutoring is always to tackle fundamentals first, with the aim of developing confidence and basic skills. I have a friendly and approachable style to my teaching, as I feel a key aim of private tuition v.s. classroom teaching is a more relaxed environment in which the student should feel empowered to as many questions as they need and approach lessons as a discussion not a lecture.

I have over 10 years worth of experience as a full time teacher.

I have attended professional workshops and seminars such as Jolly Phonics, Grammar, 21st Century Teaching etc.


I welcome the focus on the individual learner that is a central feature of tutoring, and very much enjoy engaging in the lively dialogue and individualized feedback that enables tutees to grow in confidence as learners. I bring enthusiasm and energy to my tutoring.


I think the most important quality in any tutor is patience. My first step is to perform an assessment of the student; this, along with a comparison of the student's academic goals, forms the basis of our lesson plan. I listen closely to the family's goals in order to tailor my approach specifically to that student.


Thanks to my work as a school teacher, my approach to tutoring is also informed, where relevant, by a sound understanding of the assessment requirements for public examinations and school entrance examinations.
