Experienced Mathematics Tutor

My teaching Mathematics approach is student-centered: my aim is always to create a supportive, friendly and exciting environment for learning to thrive.

I respond dynamically to the needs of each of my student i teach, shaping my teaching style so that it best serves their personality and interests.

I am particularly keen on making my tutorials as practical as possible. My students are invited to hone their skills in calculations, understanding formulas, research, note-taking, and implementation from the get-go. Through learning how to formulate original ideas and express themselves clearly, my students are able to develop greater confidence in themselves and gain a deeper sense of autonomy and initiative towards their school work.

My name Patience. I am a graduate of Economics from Madonna University Okija.

Having six years experience teaching Mathematics and Economics, my teaching style is heavily dictated by my student.

My first lesson is all about discovering what type of learner they are. We’ll also talk about their interests and goals. This seemingly innocuous conversation often holds the key to motivating them towards success.

To me, learning is always best done actively. I’ve personally never learned much by being talked at so that's not how i teach. I ask lots of questions and expect a good level of engagement during a session.

I also believe that at the heart of even the trickiest problems is a series of simple solutions. I aim to make those simple solutions clear and to help my students to think clearly and effective for themselves.

Above all, learning doesn't happen very well if a student isn’t engaged. I’m good at helping my students become interested in what they're studying and, even if it takes a little while, it's more than worth it.

My initial approach is to develop a solid relationship with my students in order to discover their learning techniques, interests, strengths and weaknesses and provide them with specific support and guidance. The benefit of private tutoring is it allows me to provide tailor made lessons and strategies to students that can directly address any areas of lower confidence and bolster areas of strength and capability
