An experienced mathematics teacher
My approach to tutoring is always to tackle fundamentals first, with the aim of developing confidence and basic skills. I have a friendly and approachable style to my teaching, as I feel a key aim of private tuition v.s. classroom teaching is a more relaxed environment in which the student should feel empowered to as many questions as they need and approach lessons as a discussion not a lecture.
I have been teaching for a period of 14 years as a creative and resourceful teacher in the area of Mathematics, English Language, Jolly Phonics and general knowledge.
My approach to tutoring is to basically welcome the focus of my students as it an integral feature of tutoring, and I very much enjoy engaging in the lively dialogue and individualised feedback that enables tutees to grow in confidence as learners. I bring enthusiasm and energy to my tutoring. Thanks to my work as a school teacher, my approach to tutoring is also informed, where relevant, by a sound understanding of the assessment requirements for public examinations and school entrance examinations.
