The IELTS test is of two categories. These are: academic and general. Academic measures English language proficiency needed for an academic, higher learning environment. The tasks and tests are accessible to all test takers, irrespective of their subject focus.

IELTS general training measures English language proficiency in a practical, everyday context. The tasks and tests reflect both workplace and social situations.

The IELTS examination comprises of Listening, Reading and Writing.

I will help my students learn from their mistakes and be conscious of their habits and weaknesses. This then is an important step towards success. I will give them written feedback for their essays submitted so they do not make the same error again.

I will encourage them to take time to really understand their errors. Are they related to spelling? If so, then practice writing these misspelled words correctly. Are your errors related to verb tense? Then go back and re-learn verb tenses and how to use them correctly. Are your errors related to vocabulary? I will encourage them to take your mistakes as opportunities to recognize them, correct them and avoid making them again.

Finally, learn the test tips and strategies and apply them to practice tests. This will help you learn how to manage your time and how to use it effectively to complete each section of the test. One key to success in the test comes down to time-management and test tricks, but this will only take you so far on the road to success if your language skills aren’t up to scratch!

We will take time to learn the parts of the test individually. For example, understand the reading test – how many passages there are, how long they are, how many questions there are, the types of questions there are, etc. All of this will help you to know how to manage your time. Learning the question types will also help you to have no surprises on test day. Once you feel comfortable answering True, False, Not Given questions for example, then you won’t be afraid of them when you see them on test-day.

About

My name is Micheal, I am innovative, a go-getter and goal-getter. I am patient, most especially with my students. I have more-than-a-decade old experience teaching English Language and Literature-in-English to pupils and students at all levels of education - primary school pupils, secondary school students, university undergraduates (with respect to 100/200 level undergraduates: Use of English/Communication Skills). Also, I had taught and still teach Communication Skills to TOFEL,IELTS ,ATS 1 students at various ICAN/ACCA Study Centres (Upper Gate Tutors, Ojo, RYSE, Ojo, Top talented Tutors, Lekki, Best Attention Tutors, Badore, Ajah)

I begin each class by way of introducing the thought to the subject matter, using common or general scenarios that they can easily and quickly relate with. After which class begins properly with an interactive manner of approach and delivery. At the end of each class, class exercises are given to the students and assignments also for the purpose of home practice.

I believe that best results are achieved when students are given the freedom to formulate their own opinions, before having these sensitively challenged. Asking testing questions is central to my approach in every lesson, and I aim to equip my tutees with an intellectual confidence that will serve them well in tricky exams and beyond.

This approach also demands flexibility on behalf of the tutor and, as a result, I always make sure to tailor lessons and schemes of work according to the exact requirements of each student.
