Passionate English Language Teacher
As an enthusiastic and personable tutor, I look for every opportunity to engage students with their work and ensure their potential is being fully realized.
I think students perform the best when they are the most engaged in what they are learning, when they can connect their learning to things they already love, whether that’s activities, interests or hobbies. The most important aspect of private tuition, in my view, is that I develop a relationship with my students which goes beyond the teacher-pupil arrangement, so they can grow in confidence with the knowledge that they have a mentor to support them both academically and in personal development.

I have a great passion for building confidence, and my tutees relate that my enthusiasm and positivity helps a great deal with making them feel positive about working and their own abilities.
I am extremely patient and encouraging and will always make sure every child feels they have gained confidence to independently approach any topic I help them with in order to build their self-belief and autonomy.
I am able to help a lot with exam and essay writing techniques; scientific writing and essay construction are things I am very confident in teaching.
I am a polite, eloquent, approachable, and friendly person and from my career path so far I am very used to being a role model for children.
I am sensitive to individual needs and I believe that a personalized, multi sensory, cross-curricular and dynamic lesson plan, with positive encouragement, timed and structured activities, and assessment for learning, are key for all children to succeed as well as understand the direction of their learning moving forward.
I believe that ‘Assessment for Learning’ is a particularly crucial element to lessons as this will allow the students to understand what they need to do to improve their learning and move on to a more advanced level of thinking.

For me, the most important part of tutoring is building confidence, wherever the student is starting from. I like to get a good understanding of a student's strengths, and where there is room for improvement, encouraging the strengths whilst addressing the aspects that need working on. Sometimes that can be about going over a topic afresh, or other times just practising a skill, such as solving an equation. Where students are preparing for exams, I include some exam questions, to maintain technique. Lastly, I like to find out what a student finds stimulating about a subject, and give some time to nurturing that interest, as enjoyment makes hard work easier.
