Committed Mathematics Tutor

In my years of tutoring Mathematics, i have found out that each student is different, that is why I vary the teaching methods I use and the pace of the lessons to suit each student.

In the first lesson I assess the student's current level, their strengths and weaknesses, and discuss goals of the tutoring sessions with the student and their parent. When teaching Mathematics, I have had particular success teaching students who are yet to get to grips with mathematical concepts and calculations. I am very patient when explaining concepts, and use the student's strengths and interests to find explanations which can be easily understood. This has helped my students to overcome these challenges.

About

My name is John. I am a graduate of Mathematics from the University of Nigeria and currently undergoing my Master's degree programme in Environmental Science from the University of Bristol.

I have over three (3) years experience teaching Mathematics to both Junior and Senior Secondary School Students and preparing them to both National and International Examinations in Mathematics.

Having tutored over ten (10) Secondary school students, my tutoring method is based on the student's personality, interest and capabilities.

I always endeavor to spark interest and excitement in the students I teach so that the learning of mathematics becomes a pleasurable experience rather than a chore.

I have found out that when teaching a subject like Mathematics which is often stigmatized in schools as being particularly difficult and easy to fall behind in, a one on one dynamic enables me to really spend as much time needed for the student to grasp a particular concept.

First thing first, before I go for any class, I create a detailed lesson plan, detailing what is expected to be achieved for that class in a way that it maximizes the time frame allocated to the class. My class session is always engaging and this makes the student free with me to ask questions. At the end of each class, after I must have ensured that the goal for that day is achieved, I give out assignments. This keeps the student occupied and the topic taught for that day is not easily forgotten.
