Senior Secondary School Chemistry Tutor
My experience teaching Chemistry has further taught me how it important it is that tutors are professional, patient, and organised. I find it incredibly rewarding when students do well, so i am always committed to going the extra mile to ensure they achieve their goals.
My name is Kikelomo. I am a certified graduate of Biology Science from Obafemi Awolowo University.
My six years expereince teaching has shaped my approach to learning, which focuses on the concept of regular self-assessment.
By setting myself goals, and then regularly assessing them, i find that i learn very efficiently. This approach has served me well for over six years, and is a method i try and use with all my students. I find this works particularly well with students who are struggling, as it allows them to regain control one bit at a time rather than tackle everything all at once.
In addition to this, i use in examination technique frequently. Every exam has a particular style, and this can be used to gain an advantage.
Students still have to have the underlying knowledge to be able to pass their examinations, but without good exam technique even bright students can struggle.
So i spend a good amount of time asking my students to think about why a question has been asked in a particular way, so they learn to use the hints that examiners are giving them.

Getting to spending time with the student individually means i can get to know their unique personality and learning strategies, and use that to turn exam content, application processes, or classroom goals into something familiar and approachable. I also aim to engage as much as possible with the natural interests of child, and seek diverse and inspiring methods of teaching, a freedom that tutoring can indulge much more effectively than a school teacher.
