English Language Tutor
My name is Nkechi. I am a graduate of Geology from Delta State University.
Thanks to my four years experience teaching Mathematics, Basic Science and English Language, my approach to tutoring is also informed where relevant, by a sound understanding of the assessment requirements for public examinations and school entrance examinations.
My teaching approach is based on two principles: engagement and method.
Engagement: My students learn more quickly and energetically if they are interested in the topic or skill that we are trying to master.
Therefore i assess each of my student, not only on their academic abilities but also their motivations and personality.
This drives my students to learn during our time together and long after our lessons have finished.
Method: All subjects and skills can be mastered with a methodical approach and consistent work. For this reason i plan individual lessons and program of study with clear short and long-term objectives.
With these my students and i can track and celebrate our progress as we go as well as identifying any areas that need extra work.
This approach produces clear academic results and demystifies challenging subjects and skills.
My teaching philosophy is student-centered. My aim is always to create a supportive, friendly and exciting environment for learning to thrive.
I respond dynamically to the needs of my student, shaping my teaching style so that it best serves their personality and interests.

I am particularly keen on making my tutorials as practical as possible. My students are invited to hone their skills in writing, critical reading, research, note-taking, and articulation from the get-go. Through learning how to formulate original ideas and express themselves clearly, my students are able to develop greater confidence in themselves and gain a deeper sense of autonomy and initiative towards their school work and everyday life.
