Home tutor in Lagos Mainland, Lagos
Highly Professional and Experienced Teacher
I have a BS.c, M.Sc and a doctorate degree in Economics in view I have lectured in various polytechnics and Universities.
I believe the best way to do well in a subject is to start enjoying it, and it has always been my goal to develop interest as well as ability in the students that I teach.
In my teaching, I've always believed that structure is key to success. Even more important than this structure, is that the lessons are delivered as an enjoyable and natural conversation rather than information just being dictated. This serves to make the sessions enjoyable and anticipated rather than a chore to get out of the way.
In the first session, goals, targets would be set in order to attain a clear objective on what the student wants to achieve. Also during my session we will spend some time going through the questions and working through any areas of difficulties. This means that specific issues and confusions can be addressed quickly before covering new material.
Prepclass Tutor Since: April 2015
I have over 15 years of teaching experiences at all tiers of educational levels including Upper primary class, Secondary, Undergraduate and Postgraduate levels.
My approach to tutoring varies hugely depending on the child I am tutoring. However I think something which unifies it across the range of ages and abilities is that I always try to break down what seem like huge, daunting subjects or assignments into smaller, manageable, non-scary, fun tasks. I work closely with each child to determine the ways in which they learn best, their interests, strengths and weaknesses, and feed this back into my tutoring methods, creating a tailor-made learning experience.
My methods are, of course, also informed by a thorough understanding of assessment requirements and criteria both for school entrance examinations and public examinations.
I believe that a positive and confident attitude towards the academic subject being studied can be hugely beneficial in terms of results, and I try to engender this by providing a supportive yet challenging relationship and environment for study. I thoroughly enjoy tutoring each of the subjects I teach, and hope that I can transmit my enthusiasm and energy to my pupils.
