Taiwo O.
Senior Secondary School Agricultural Science Tutor
Versatile Agricultural Science Tutor
During Agricultural lectures, i aims to instill confidence, both in the subject i am working on with my students, but also in their general educational and personal development.
The aim of my approach is not just to tick boxes on a syllabus or repair specific faults, though both are often necessary components of my work: I set out to not so much teach my students, as to work with them.
About
My name is Taiwo, I am a graduate of Animal Science, from the Federal University of Agriculture Abeokuta.
With my five years experience teaching Basic Science and Agricultural Science. I discovered one of the advantages of one-on-one tutoring is that lessons can be targeted to address the individual needs and abilities of my students. This can range from slowing their approach to Science questions to avoid making easy mistakes, using everyday examples to demonstrate scientific processes, and working out imaginative ways to teach concepts my students have particular difficulty with.
I am a great believer in using examination board specifications to show my students exactly what they are expected to know and how they are expected to apply this knowledge.
Taking this further, i like to spend time on examination technique, helping my students approach questions in a structured manner to gain as many marks as possible.
In addition, i believe motivation and having fun are important aspects of learning. Students must be able to recognize why they are learning particular topics, why they are interesting, how they can be applied, and what rewards can be gained.
My approach to tutoring is warm and encouraging. Indeed, i believe that building a genuine relationship with my student is of great importance and that the greatest progress is made, is by establishing open, honest and authentic dialogues.

My teaching style is heavily dictated by my student. My first lesson is all about discovering what type of learner they are. We will also talk about their interests and goals. This seemingly innocuous conversation often holds the key to motivating them towards success. To me, learning is always best done actively. I have personally learned much by being talked at so that's not how i teach. I ask lots of questions and expect a good level of engagement during a session.
