My name is Oluwatosin, I am a graduate of Social Science Education from the University of Jos.
Having over three years experience teaching Economics and Social Studies, i discovered that each student has different needs, so it is important to respond to these in the first instance.
However, the two foundations for success in Economics and Social Studies are solid grasp of the theory and good essay writing skills respectively.
In Economics, theory covers precise definitions and also accurate calculation, but also how to apply the ideas to real world situations.
From this basis it is possible to move forward and write good analytical essays that both apply to Social Studies and also question its use in the real world.
It is important to have a broad view of the role of Economics and Social Studies in politics and society as well as text book theory.
My approach is driven by my student. I believe that with a basic understanding of core concepts and the self-confidence to employ them, every student is capable of academic success.
I work collaboratively with parents and pupils to produce a program of study which is tailored to the needs of my students, set goals and structure the tuition.

I believe that the most important virtue in a tutor is the ability to empathize with a student's cognitive position. When teaching i aim to guide my students through the mental steps needed to accomplish the goal of the lesson. I typically spend much of a lesson in dialogue with my student. I break this up with exercises to embed and reinforce key points, but i always end the lesson with a call to reflection on what my student has learned. I emphasize that knowledge is open-ended and interconnected.
