GRE Quantitative Reasoning Tutor
In my teaching, I emphasize the use of metmetacognition (thinking about thinking), knowing that planning and monitoring the essential metacognitive skills helps students quickly come up with the correct answer to a question. Because time is a huge factor that contributes to the success or failure of a GRE student.
My name is Otuniyi, I am a graduate of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering from the University of Lagos.
Over the years I have taught Mathematics to both Junior and Senior Secondary School students and have also tutored students for standardized examinations in the Quantitative section of GMAT GRE and SAT who Scored very high in these examinations.
Teaching is something I am passionate about and a channel with which I add value to others. The goal is to improve the student's ability and/or to meet examination standards using carefully selected examples and various teaching methods.
Having worked with a great number of students, I have found out that students learn and make sense of their subjects in very particular ways. As such i always try to match my teaching style with the learning style of my student. I have a great interest in learning strategies and understanding the myriad of ways in which students absorb information.
I am very patient when it comes to reiterating what has been taught till the students have a solid grasp on what has been taught.

For each examination preparatory class I teach, I carry along materials to help jog the student's memory because students have lots of facts, figures and theories to remember. They may be forgetting all important points about a subject, so it’s important they understand how memory works. A lot of students have the misconception that reading over the material repeatedly results in good memory, not knowing that the key to a better memory is testing and applying the knowledge by going through past questions. I teach them how to revise on their own. Then I advise them to do away with stress and anxiety because mental health is also an important key to success.
