My name is Shona. I am a graduate of Microbiology from the University of Lagos and also a Master's Degree holder of Microbiology from the University of Lagos.

I am an experienced Biology teacher very conversant with both the Nigerian and British Curriculum. I take all levels of Secondary School Biology. I have prepared students for IGCSE and WAEC who did exceedingly well.

Since I became a teacher, I have taught for over seven (7) years at several outstanding schools in a range of educational environments including international schools like Grange and Corona. As well as teaching undergraduates Biology. As a result, i have a wealth of experience teaching and helping students of all ages to succeed in Biology.

I am a tutor who loves to empower and inspire my students by establishing an environment where the student is comfortable to ask questions and explore Biology at their own pace. Thus becoming independent learners, so that they can take charge of their own learning and achieve their goals using the power of the mind.

When I teach my students Biology, The first thing I do after creating the objective is to engage my students by relating Biology to everyday life, because Students tend to show interest when they see how biological concepts and questions are relevant to every day life. Then I incorporate hands on activities like encouraging students to plant gardens to learn about photosynthesis, or dissect specimens to learn about Anatomy. This already gets them interested in the subject. Then i try different learning and teaching styles by incorporating a variety of instructional methods that best suits my students. Thereafter, I assess the students to know their strength and weakness. At the end of every Biology lesson, I always leave practice exercises with the students. This continues to keep them engaged before the next class.
