With Over 6 Years of Experience, I Make Literature-in-English Easy For My Students, That's Why They Always Comes Off With A's.
Teaching Literature-in-English has been one of my major strengths all my years of teaching because it comes naturally to me. Personally, I love reading literature so I found pleasure in looking for ways to make my students love it. I break down my approaches to teaching Literature-in-English into three stages.
In the beginning, I do not expose my students to long stories or tough thematic structures that could bore them and make them lose interest. Rather, I open them up to the beautiful world of Literary appreciation and the richness of its figurative expressions. We pay attention to folktales and anecdotes while we seriously immerse ourselves in knowing Literary Terms and Figures of Speech.
In that same atmosphere already created by Literary Appreciation, we gradually dovetail into Poetry and start considering and covering all the recommended poems. We examine rhythmic and thematic structures, break down complex poetic dictions and explain rhyme patterns. It becomes even more interesting when we start to memorize stanzas and recite them on Assembly.
In the third approach, we begin to read recommended plays and proses. We begin with simple texts to complex ones. Texts become easier for students to comprehend because they already have a solid foundation in Literary Appreciation.
This has always worked for me on many occasions with many students. Although with some modifications sometimes as occasions demand, my students always come off with A's and B's in examinations such as WAEC and NECO and enviable scores in JAMB.

I am a graduate of Theatre Arts from the University of Benin and currently studying for my PGDE at the National Open University of Nigeria.
I have 6 years of experience teaching English Language and Literature in English. My students have always come top in their grades in any examination I prepared them for. The lowest grade I celebrated with my students in the just concluded WAEC was 'B3' and my students turned out with outstanding scores in the JAMB examination. I produced a student that scored as high as 327 in the recent JAMB. This has always been the norm for me all the years I have been teaching.
I have always been instrumental in teaching and preparing students for external examinations. I am a skillful motivator, communicator, and public speaking coach. I am also proficient with the use of software packages such as Microsoft Excel and Word.
